My victory

She bounced the ball in her hand
Concentration written on her face
My Appointee on the other side, severed it
And the court was the only thing in this place

The ball sped to the passer
The waves of nerves crashed over me
I ran fast and with purpose
To set the ball, this was key

I reached the net
And set my feet
My hands touched the ball
I pushed it out, clean and neat

My hitter took her steps
A approach then a jump that defies
She was above the net, she swung
I closed my eyes

I heard the ball hit the floor
Did it land in or out
I didn’t know
But it had been won, without a doubt

Screams and arms wrapped around me
We had won, we had made history
We are going to nationals
This was my victory
